I missed "The Start". Saw "Kenna" - who I found confusing. He was all hip-hop look/attitude but singing music similar to She Wants Revenge (SWR). The sound system was totally f-ed up (even during SWR) so all of Kenna's songs sounded like "mmmggbbbbmmm.... ooooohhhh". I thought his band was good but that he wasn't.

At the break, I moved from the 2nd level - right side of stage - to 1st level, directly in front of Adam's keyboards (about 3 people between him and me). Turned out to be a great spot - good people and awesome view. I didn't bring in my cellphone so that, for a change, I'd WATCH the show, instead of taping it.

SWR went on at 11pm. It was a good show - though, after seeing them so many times it's kinda hard for me to be an impartial judge. The music sounded great. But, again, the lead vocals mic was f-ed up so if you didn't already know lyrics to a song, you probably weren't going to be able to make them out. Justin (lead vocals) and Adam (keyboard & vocals) were clearly VERY happy to be back in SoCal and interacted with the audience a lot. We learned that Justin has a baby who, due to touring, he saw for the first time in a month today (must have been hard to leave to put on a show!). And Adam is the baby's godfather... new info to me.

The show ended around 12:30am. There was an announcement for an "after party in the lobby" which was a "hella lame" idea on a work night. As expected, no one stuck around. The DJ guy looked a little sad/lost/pathetic.

I made it out of the concert for just the $8 parking fee. $27 still in my pocket...woohoo!

Then I saw the Tshirts. Only $20, so I bought this one:

Then got in line for Adam to sign my ticket (pictured on the shirt)... and confirmed that there will be a similar opening set before the show Sat (so I don't need to arrive by 8pm).

All good. Still made it out with $7 left. But something kept drawing me back to the shirts. Then I finally saw it:

This design totally reminds me of something Haze would do (did you, Haze?!?). I love that the artsy quality to the image cause me to take a couple seconds to realize what it actually is. And I love the design on the back (it's kinda small in real life). It will be perfect to wear to the show on Sat since I'm possibly going to The Lair (the BDSM club) after the show (note: I don't care that it is totally retarded to wear a concert shirt to the concert itself - esp since it's C who always says that and today I remembered that when we saw SWR at the Greek he bought a concert shirt - and immediately put it on. So shut up!). Thanks to the ATM 2 feet from the shirt booth (an a fee of only $2.50), I own this design too.

Still a very reasonable night out... $75.50 = concert ticket ($25), parking, 2 shirts (both of which I'll wear), and a signed ticket. Still less than I would have dropped on booze alone in the past.

Annnddd... I got to my car around 12:45am and had a txt from C. But he had sent it 2 hrs earlier and didn't return my response. I suppose all bad little boys had already found comfy beds for the night.

SWR, Track 66

Going to the She Wants Revenge concert at The Grove of Anaheim tonight (and Henry Fonda theater, in LA, on Sat) - but it doesn't start till 9pm, and they have 2 opening bands. WTF?? Most venues have an 11p weekday closing time so that's, what, 3 songs each? I'm not, at all, in the mood for the show right now but I'm sure that will change when I get to the venue (provided I avoid the bitchy OC "we're so rich and we're so cool and you wish you were us" kids. My buzzed tolerance for them is zero; my non-buzzed tolerance will be scary). (Where did I put those anti-anxiety meds??) I don't feel like standing through 2 opening bands (there's no seating), especially with my cricked up neck (will she, unlike today, actually wake up and see her chiropractor tomorrow?!?) so I'm killing time (aka: "secret" track 66 on their first CD. See how I tied that in to the post title? See how clever I am?!?).

There are no opening bands listed for Sat but I'm sure someone is performing... especially given the 8pm show time and Hollywood venue.

Semi-related:
I'm jazzed to realize that, because I'm still not drinking booze, the $35 I have on me will suffice for the night (parking & waters... and maybe even some food before I go). In the past, it would be a trip to the ATM for $100 - which, along with the $35, would be gone before the show was over. I won't be able to get a tshirt but, if they have a new design and I like it, I can snag one on Sat.

Related to the no booze "diet": I've lost 2 more pounds (for a total of 15 in 39 days). My ultra-skinny jeans are now my comfy jeans. And my fav work pants now need suspenders (I have some and really am going to adapt the pants for them). WooHoo!!

I'm still surprised to see a big fat woman looking back at me in the mirror and photos - but I need to just ignore her and hope those images catch up with the skinny one inside my head sooner rather than later. If I ever develop some freakin ab strength, things should progress rapidly.

Speaking of which: Last night I was obsessing on the fact that no matter what, my left leg absolutely will not move when I try to climb the pole. Not if I switch the order of which leg is on the pole first; not if I scream at or will it to move; not if people try to push it to move; probably not even if it was hanging from a pulley system and an elephant were pulling the rigging. So I, temporarily, had myself completely convinced that something (other than a lot of fat & a lack of muscle strength) is wrong with it. Perfectly logical at 4:30 in the morning!! (I love temporary hypochondrias!!)

Gawd, I'm bored-boring-bored.
Thanks to Firefox/Vox formatting issues, I've managed to kill 45 min. Guess I'll head toward the show. g'night peeps.

FUCK Ticketmaster!!

No more option to have your tix mailed for free - now it's all e-ticket ($2.50 to print my own ticket? NO THANKS), UPS Delivery (something like $4 to $18.50) or WillCall (still free - who knew?).

And, thanks to an $8.05 "convenience charge" (um, excuse me, isn't ordering a ticket to the show a convenience TO THE VENUE/ARTIST??) and another $4.85 "order processing charge" (for... what?... the less than 2 min I spent online going through a well-established, automated process??)... my $25 concert ticket totalled $37.90. Isn't that sweet?

WHY HASN'T SOMEONE REGULATED THIS SHIT YET? Why are they still allowed to make up all these variable fees? I might not mind some of the BS if I could actually predict what it would be - but those "convenience" and "order processing" charges are never the same for 2 events. Not 2 events at the same venue; not 2 events by the same artist. Never seems to be a predictable percentage or dollar amount. Always seems to be some random "How much extra would we like to pocket for doing almost nothing?" fee.

At least I didn't have a bogus "facility charge" too. It's sad that I actually feel thankful about that.

And at least I got my tix to SWR at the Henry Fonda Theater on Sat, Nov 10. I also have tix to SWR at The Grove of Anaheim on Wed, Nov 7 (those $25 tix totalled $36.60). Now I need to decide whether or not to pick up tix for SWR in San Diego on Thurs, Nov 8. I'm seeing Cirque du Soleil, Corteo, on Fri Nov 9. Busy week!!

I had a GREAT weekend!

She Wants Revenge was INCREDIBLE!! No one went with me and I couldn't care less (like I said, more room for me to dance)! When I walked in to the venue, the guy doing ID check lit up like a damn Xmas tree, acted like he knew me, then said I looked beautful... because I always look beatiful... he could just tell. Okay then! That was cool!!

The concert was everything I hoped x 1000. The band mixed 3 songs from their upcoming album (due in October) into the set and they were GREAT!! I don't know that I've ever had that happen before - gone to a concert, heard new, unreleased, songs and thought all of it was amazing. I cannot wait for the new album to come out! I recorded almost the entire concert on my phone (so I have the new music - neener neener neeeeener!). I had a fucking BLAST!

On the way home, I found out Brad's birthday party had dwindled but was still going so I swung by there. The view from Aaron's 28th floor condo was BEAUTIFUL. The crowd was small by that point but all really great people. Aaron gave me a wonderful compliment when taking photos ("Oh, that's a good one of you cause it captures your smile. You're ALWAYS smiling.") I don't know how long I stayed there but I loved ever minute of it! (thanks for turning 51 Brad!!)

Then brunch today: Considering the location - an ultra high priced neighborhood by the water - I expected the usual 1200 sqft home on a 1202 sqft lot and all of us spilling out into the street. Mistake! Jaie & Steven's place was an amazing, 3 story, completely artsy home with lots of property, a 2nd floor deck (with jacuzzi), and a rooftop (aka: 4th floor) patio... totally wonderful for brunch (except that spiral staircase from the roof to 2nd floor was SCARY - especially after a zillion glasses of champagne). I drooled over David (gawd damn that man is SEXY!! congrats on getting your judo/karate/kungfu brown belt, honey!!). I danced with Shawn. I committed a major faux pas by bringing a 1/2 magnum of asti that turned out to be rancid (it was a gift from someone so I had no idea till we opened it). I got hit on by a REALLY HOT asian-american girl (she sent her gay friends over with her business card and request that I call her). I told them I'm straight - but took the card anyway (a compliment is a compliment!!). I drank and laughed and drank some more with Richard, John, Brad, Aaron, Marty, Bryan, Earl, and hot guys #8 through 200. I stayed far too long - as always. Richard invited me back to Brad's for yet another party but some bit of my intelligence was actually still functioning through the champagne & margarita haze - so I said no and I went home to spend the evening "in recovery" (aka: 2 hr nap and watching "Just Married" - possibly the worst film ever made).

And what did I learn from this weekend? I still have "the bad concert ticket juju". I'm probably gonna spend a lot of money on SWR concert tix (SINGLE tickets) over the next year! I'm beautiful! Gay men are still amazingly fabulous. It's best to buy champagne, good champagne, right before the party. I nearly always have a good time when I go places on my own.

I am ridiculously bored

Big goal for today: Dye/bleach my hair (L'Oreal Color Expert "Dulce de Leche"). It's been faaar too long since I've done a touchup. Like, a couple days before I got the blue hair extensions (2 months ago?). The drugstore is pretty much across the street. But I'm tired (not fatigued, just tired) and that seems soooo faaaaar when my bed is right here.

SWR concert is tonight. Looks like I'm going alone. I voicemailed C to see if he wants to go (he likes the band) but it's a super long drive for him so I doubt he'll accept. I hope to give away the 2 freebie tix at the door (it would be great to find someone who's in line to get lawn seats and give them an upgrade - for free!).

Brad is 51? Noooo!!

I'm hoping Brad's bday party will still be going on by the time I get back into town tonight. Hard to say. They're a big party group but that would be 5+ hrs of drinking - and we all have champagne brunch in the morning (Brad is the coordinator).

I could vacuum - but why bother? I did ALL the dishes last night - I was that bored (no, I wasn't wearing the shoes from my prev post while I did them). I think someone should alert the media - it's probably been 3+ months since I've done dishes. Seriously.

My abs and thighs are still sore from Thurs' workout. But it's that good kinda sore. I'm sure I should hurt more but a darvocet at bedtime last night took care of that.

It's hot (over 80F in my bedroom right now with all the windows open & a fan on) and I just want to lie (lay?) around, do nothing, and wake up later in the day - beautiful and desired by all desireable men. It's that kind of Saturday.

What's old & fat & sore all over?

I did over 3.5 HOURS of workout last night - two back-to-back classes. WooHoo!! I was late to the 6pm L4 class (thanks to a lovely 4:30pm "I need this by tomorrow" email) - and made it just in time for abs - oh joy (not!). I don't remember much about that class - only that I tried to keep to my standing "assigned homework" of MOVE SLOWER during my routine. I had a hard time with my song choice cause it sounds massively better in my car and, like the time I brought in a SWR song, sounded far away on the studio stereo. But I stripped shoes (they were bothering me), 2 shirts, and my skirt and I think it went okay overall.

Then I dropped into an L1 class. That was great because it was only their 3rd or 4th week of S Factor - ever. They're still at the awkward/unsure stage - while I have a year of experience. I was able to keep up with most of the warmup (did more of the ab routine that I ever have before!) - though dripping sweat, sliding all over the place (from the sweat), and getting muscle cramps from being overheated. During routine, I toned down my act - a lot - cause I think it's pompous when people don't (plus it meant I didn't have to work so hard). But, at the same time, did enough advanced-style to be an example of where they're headed.

By the end of the 2nd class, my arms & legs were both shaking like crazy. I could barely walk. I ran errands and all anyone around me heard was, "oooh. ouch. ooff." At home, trying to put my groceries in the fridge made me feel about a billion years old.

But....

I WENT UPSIDE - ON MY OWN* - FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!!! YEEEAAAYYYY!!

*I think it was on my own. I don't think Megan (our instructor) could have helped me from where she was standing and I didn't feel her touch me till I was actually upside down - and she was trying to help me correct my foot placement & grip. It was still sloppy & not sexy - but it was UPSIDE SOLO!!

And, thanks to the new boots, which stick to the pole MUCH better than my sweaty legs, I climbed higher than I ever have before. I still got "stuck" midway - my arms fully extended up and my legs basically stuck in place. That's when I learned that I was doing things wrong (I knew I was - but couldn't figure out what was wrong). I was trying to grab high, pull my legs up, grip, extend my legs & regrip - basically pulling up. But I'm supposed to grab the pole with my legs, then "stand up", regrip, repeat. My lack of ab strength is still a prob - but not nearly so critical if I do the move in the correct order.

So I was/am sore EVERYWHERE, and have terrible bruises everywhere, and am tired as hell - but it was totally worth it!

And, believe it or not, I even got out of bed 2.5 hrs early today to make bunches of fresh guacamole for an office going-away lunch today (bye, Chris. Remember me when they need V&V!). Now I have a TON of work to catch up. Then bunches of errands tonight. I want to go to Miss Kittys (the theme is "Friday the 13th Slumber Party Massacre") but it's not a realistic goal.

Sat night is the She Wants Revenge concert. I have 4 tix and NO idea who, if anyone, is going with me. Or if I'm even going (I got invited to a bday party that's happening at the same time with a REALLY fun crowd).

Sun is usually workout but Megas is going to be out (trying out for Clipper girls) so I'm skipping class to go to the monthly gay Brunch Bunch... sexy men, gobs of champagne (100+bottles), about 4 houses from the beach, and only 2 blocks from a bar with a "beer bust" (one admin price, then $1 refills for the rest of the night). I'm thinking it would be smart to take a taxi... I already feel a binge coming on.

I WENT UPSIDE DOWN ALL BY MY OWN-SES!! WOO-HOO!
