Just watched the plumber stop at the stop sign, look directly at my house, and keep driving. Happened to catch him parking a block away (there's space in front of my house). The receptionist is a ditz - when I made the appt, she returned the call to my cell phone and said my office had said "no one by that name is here" - but I knew she had never taken my last name.
So did she give this guy the wrong address or did he screw it up? It's been 10 min, why hasn't anyone figured there's a prob and called me?
Anyhoo... this is the house foundation "before". At this rate, might be "after" too. There was no subfloor - just linoleum onto the foundation, with padding/carpet over that. All the really dark areas at the left, and near the toilet base, is rotted wood. The screw, holding the toilet into the rotted wood, is completely rusted.
update 10 min later: The guy finally found my place but the receptionist had only told him "leak" not REPLACE THE FLOOR - so not only was he totally unprepared, but he has more jobs lined up for today. He clearly wanted out of the job (made a big deal about my toilet being out of commission all day - well, duh!) but I didn't bite. I was hoping to just replace the couple really bad boards - he says they all need to go. Whatev. He's due back this afternoon - after the other jobs and getting supplies. We'll see if he actually shows up (won't surprise me if the other jobs suddenly end up taking all day). He's supposed to call me with an estimate - just so I know. Turns out the receptionist also gave him my office number instead of my cell. She's really lucky she doesn't work with me.
Nicole had to cancel tonight's workout. She's having a hell week - car accident over the weekend and dog emergency tonight (dog is okay - just really shaken up, as was Nicole).
I finished up everything I had at the office (that's almost 24hrs of being super productive!) and am not quite sure what to do next.
I'm not hungry - now that my GI probs are MIA (knock on formica), I don't feel the need to eat every 2 seconds. Which is providing confirmation that my obesity is EXTREMELY linked to my GI issues. At least that provides a new direction for treatment/coping.
But back to the topic at hand...
Don't feel like working out at home, watching TV, shopping...
Is 8p too early to place a booty call when both parties are on "vampire time"? Maybe I can kill an hour or two by reading some online erotica short stories.
Since getting off work last night I, the Master Procrastinator / Royal Buttlagger, have:
- Dumped the trash
- Dumped most of the recycling
- Washed workout clothes
- Figured out that part of the reason my gas bill is so high is that my drier is running waaaaay longer than it should (4 items of clothing do not need to tumble for 3+ hrs when set to "damp dry")
- Packed my workout bag (including burlesque DVD for Nicole)
- Moved/re-org'd some messes so they're not quite so messy
- Picked up all the cat toys and put them away
- Vacuumed the entire house (kitchen doesn't count - it has to be mopped)
- Tried to figure out what's wrong with my f-itty eff eff printer (think it's detecting that the black ink cartridge is long expired (2006); HP was sued for that but that doesn't mean my printer doesn't still do it. But, yeah, that link I found includes another link to a workaround hack that I can try!)
- Scrubbed the toilet & bathtub
- Put the battery back into the bedroom smoke alarm & put it back on the wall (knocked it down cause fog from my shower set it off)
- Taken a shower & shaved my legs - TWICE (last night and this morn)
- Hired a new gardener and gotten the front yard cleaned up
- Removed misc cat fur from pillows/bedding (using one of those tape lint remover thingies)
- Thrown away the old, broken, front yard hose
- Completed a bunch of document revisions (work)
- Made appt for plumbers to repair the bathroom floor (Friday morn)
- Gotten approval for a day off (Fri - for the plumbers & the Pink Party)
Anyone else remember that me getting all productive is usually indicative of someone thinking about giving me a booty call?
I won't be doing this anytime soon and, despite HATING this in elementary school (where the pullup requirement led me to only get a badge, silver, once), I think it's kinda neat that they brought out an adult version:
Direct link to the test website: http://www.adultfitnesstest.org/adultFitnesstestLanding.aspxDavid Caruso:
- Coworkers who, finding themselves with a little bit of down time, decide to resume prior policy of thinking they're my boss. NOT COOL!!!
- Annoying coworkers trapping me at my desk and talking at me for extended periods of time (while fully realizing that, to other coworkers, that same descrip would apply to me)
- That no one, but me, spells cancelled with 2 "L"s anymore (it was the predominant spelling when I was growing up)
- Trying to watch online streaming vid and getting only about 1 second of vid for every 20 seconds of "buffering"
Gael Garcia Bernal:
- Finding out a bunch of cool people (including Justin Rudd, who doesn't drink and NEVER goes to parties) will be at the "rooftop" LB gay pride pre-party Friday night (so I put it back on my calendar). With luck, I'll also manage to finagle an invite a Sun brunch/parade-viewing party out of the night.
- Weather for pride weekend is expected to be GOOD - maybe a little too good (historically, the weather is great till the day of pride then suddenly turns overcast & cold. 80s would be nice. 90s & above would suck.)
- Not owning a gun (cause I would have shot at least 2 insane drivers today. One cut me off by maybe 1", for no apparent reason, then flipped ME off.)
- Constipation (yes, I know most of you would dread it but, after 5 months of the opposite problem, this has been an unexpected and totally happy development. I wish I knew what triggered it!)
- Having a short bit of downtime between major work projects
- Today's "meeting that annoys the hell out of me" being cancelled
- Still feeling good (3 days in a row?!?)
- Planning to have sex - WILD sex - before the week is over
- New pole skills via Yannori
- Finding out that Yannori is about to "go live" with online pole dance classes
- Finding out that Yannori is teaching In Studio pole classes (even though they're prob at times I can't attend)
- Christian, the 7/11 clerk that hits on me, asking for my phone number - again. I'm not into him but he seems harmless and I totally dig the attention. Also got a BIG laugh when 2 women, with bodies similar to mine, came in the store and I caught him wanting to flirt with them too - but not doing it cause I was right in front of him. Funny!! I totally called him on it.
- My R knee mostly working correctly & reliably
- Possibility that I'll be taking an extended weekend in SF next month
- Just now getting an easy work project from the coworker I respect
- Finishing said project in about an hour
I hate that... boot up the computer to research something, find the first thing - then can't remember the second.
I think it started with an "O":
- Ocelots?
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?
- Octipii?
- Origami?
- Original cast of Cats?
- Oregon?
- Olive Garden (what is the appeal of)?
- Obtuse angles?
- ORGASM?
I didn't do so well last week. Missed the FGNs party - wasn't feeling it. Wasn't feeling much of anything last week - except work (only cause I had to) and sleep.
Once again, purple = leftovers/undone from last week (and the week before):
ToDo:
- Vacuum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (SERIOUSLY!!!)
- CALL SOMEONE ABOUT THE BATHROOM FLOOR/FOUNDATION REPAIR!!!!
- Knee exercises
- Pole practice (stuff that Yannori taught me)
- Mail stuff to CupCate/Iain
- Figure out what is f-ing wrong with my f-itty-eff-eff printer
- Call MetLife and make appt for adjuster and/or repair
- Throw away old hose. Buy a new 100yrd hose for the front "yard"
- Look into installation of on-demand water heater (and copper repiping?)
- Measure the front-yard crawlspace screen, go to Lowe's & get wood cut-to-fit and block it up.
- Make doc appt to talk about weight loss (realistic options?) and to resume Depo shots
- Call Adrian to see if he wants to go to Pride with me
- Pay bills: City of LB ($405), JCP (overdue??), and equity line ($96)
- Wed 8p: Pole workout (#9 of 10). Renew?? ($700)
- Sat: Water backyard (cause I prob won't be home Sun)
- Sun: Long Beach Gay Pride. Justin Rudd is parade grand marshall this year!! (but I'll prob miss that.) Sun night main stage entertainment = Sheena Easton and KC & the Sunshine Band
Not ToDo:
- So many sodas (did pretty well on this last week)
PMS
Bookmole made me think of this - which worked out great because I'd never seen the vid before. Iggy is great in it:
Forgot to mention... Yannori's boyfriend came home and, despite actually looking nothing like him, totally reminded me of the Horace character (last week's episode - the dead Dharma guy with the map in his pocket).
Was I at the cabin? Did Jacob give me a clue?
Emotional/mental stability has finally returned (aka: PMS has left - and I'm now 90% certain I'm going back on the Depo just to avoid going through that again).
My 2-hr private pole class with Yannori went really, really well! I got some good practice exercises and a great technique for doing a GRACEFUL on-pole leg switch which, just maybe, will lead to me being able to climb on a regular basis. That would be "teh awesum". She also taught me a really simple, but strength-building (for me), transition she calls "the bounce". We did "hook", forward, and reverse spins and were able to work well together to figure out my screw ups and modifications that work well for me. I slipped a few times, causing me to land the moves wrong (on the side of my foot) and now have a super annoying bruise just below my big toe, right over the bone (Ouchie!). But, otherwise, am no worse for the wear.
We also did a bunch of other stuff that, with luck, will come back to me later cause I can't remember any of it now. It was an EXPENSIVE session but money well spent. I really got a lot of good out of it. Yannori is an impressive instructor and I hope I can see her again soon. (many thanks to Fachowna for introducing me to her!)
After Yannori, I headed off to get a pedicure, couldn't decide what I wanted, and ended up having pink nails with white polka dots. I know the dots tend to come off faster than regular designs (cause they do them with hobby paint instead of nail polish) - but what the heck, they're fun:
At home, I let the cats out front for a bit - despite the fact that Boo's 3 days of SCREAMING at me means she really didn't deserve it. Last night she pulled an attitude with ME on the bed, not happy that my arm was too close to her, and found herself thrown on the floor (my patience was ZERO). Damn, she tries my nerves. (the other two are pure sweetness.) My hope was that some front-yard time would mellow her out but no such luck - she already resumed the random annoying crying.
By the end of outdoor play time, it was early evening so I started some more laundry, went out back to water plants, and found the first ripe blueberries of the season!! Seems kind of early but everything seems like it's blooming early, so maybe it's me that's out of sync:
Does tomorrow HAVE to be Monday? I'm sooo not in the mood for everything that comes with that. How annoying that I'm already stressing about it so it's invading my Sun night too.
I'll pay you $1 to put fresh linens on my bed for me. Kthx?
