Thursday Thoughts
- I woke up without ulcer/acid reflux pains today. Not sure if it's due to the Nexium I took yesterday, not burning the pumpkin candle, not using the new red blankie (which Moshi, for some reason, won't touch), or the fact that I scarffed a brick of "No Woman" cheese with those super buttery "Club Crackers" last night. Mmmm-good! It should have made me sick but I swear, I felt fantastic (so much for the theory that my GI probs are "fat intolerance").
- I was reminded of the "beet test" for colon healh yesterday - because my lunch (roasted root veggies) contained a fair amount of beets. Basically, you eat 1/2 to 1 cup of beets and see how long it takes to have "red poo". 24 to 48 hrs is considered healthy. Longer than that is bad. My rate was less than 6 hrs. No one ever discusses that problem. I should submit it for Dr. Oz and see if I can be on Oprah.
- I, accidentally, nearly tried to kill myself this morning. My stomach is acting up so I decided to pop a couple Imodium. But I was driving so I couldn't get to liquid right away. By the time I did, the pills had half dissolved and were refusing to move. I tried several times, till it occurred to me that they were likely to get stuck in my throat and I'd have the misfortune of choking to death on the way to work. I spit them out. Fun times.
- My car has clearly become magnetic (again). Yet another driver pulled a random, Mr. Toad style, lane change to cut me off this morning. This was stranger than most - our lanes were each traveling at the exact same speed (car in front of him was pacing the car in front of me). With no warning or blinker, he pulled this insane lane change (into the fast lane), cutting me off and proceeded to drive slower & slower & slower (in the fast lane!). As usual, I finally switched into the spot he'd abandoned, went around him, and got back into the space I'd previously held. I do not get this game!
- Upon arriving at my desk, I was hit in the butt with a nerf "bullet".
- I put Christmas window stickers on my boss' wall (it's all glass) and all the cubes in my row - which translates to everyone in my dept except TheQueen. haha!
- I'm now extra stressed about the commute to the Oasis concert tonight. Let alone the fact that traffic is guaranteed to suck, it's a good 50 miles, and I don't plan to leave till the opening band is supposed to go on (7p) - there's also the issue of construction and major traffic delays at the venue (they even send emails telling you to plan for problems). But now... I find out that the light show I also want to see, at Nokia Plaza, which is starting to tonight, is going to have some kind of big Grand Opening celebration and a bunch of new venues in the complex are opening as part of the "celebration". It's expected to draw quite a crowd, adding to parking & traffic issues. But that's not enough... noooo!! Now there are rumors (pretty firm ones) that Britney Spears is going to be the person throwing the switch to kick off the whole thing, so that means a gabillion spazzy fans & paparrazi & news crews will also be there, blocking traffic and taking up parking. I'll be lucky if I get to the concert before it's over. Coworkers are saying I should just leave now (1pm). What fun!
- I'm still dreading the James Bond themed "holiday party" (lunch, in the office conference room) tomorrow. I realize I've only seen 1 Bond film ever (I think it was Octopussy) and I don't remember anything but the opening credits (closeups of girls in wetsuits, under black light, and as they unzipped their tops, their boobs would expand so you could read the neon lettering on their shirts... I though that was fantastically funny). - so there is no way I can win at any of the Bond-themed games they're planning. Suckah!
- My cube-neighbor and I just "brought closure to" a container of Trader Joe's cookies with perks. I'm really surprised they lasted 4 days.. but it seems most coworkers aren't coffee fanatics and didn't really care for the flavor.
- Despite declarations that I wasn't going to test yesterday, I knocked out 8 hrs of test tables. Maybe I'll stick to my guns today. Probably not. I'm a show off - even when no one is paying attention.
- Oooh... lookie what Mike just found in our test lab and is gonna let go outside (after we all have a chance to ooh & ahh):
