The best laid plans...
... of mice and men, or fat/loud ladies...
Looks like my plans for tonight are falling apart. I picked out an outfit to wear to Miss Kitty's tonight. Didn't look like I planned ("soft domme") but still looked fun on me (kind of "goth/wiccan"). The whole thing is stripper shoes or boots (undecided), fishnets, frilly black/red panties, push up black/red bra, maybe a long black tank (undecided), long (to the floor) black immitation satin skirt, and black leather corset/bustier/basque (whichever is the one that stops just below your boobs). Flirty, fun, a little but slutty but not much, option to take off the skirt to be totally slutty, and a really different look for me - esp with my darker hair. So I was getting really excited for tonight.
Then I realized that instead of coming home after Kitty's, I could drive to Pasadena, nap in my car for a few hours, and see the Rose Parade, live and in person. So, without deciding one way or the other about doing it, I figured I'd pack a change of clothes, a portable chair, a blankie, and some water - giving me the option to see the Parade. (note: I've never seen the Rose parade. I know I've been to see the floats after the fact, but only from seeing slides of being there. I was young and don't actually remember doing it.) So... okay... bonus option... mobloggin the Rose Parade floats/experience for my Voxy neighbors!
I was getting excited about New Year's Eve... when's the last time that happened? (A: 1991)
The rest of the night went along nicely. I called Moshi in around 9:30pm and didn't think twice about the fact that it was lightly foggy. This morning the cats slept in (I'm not sure why) and it was after 7 when they demanded to go out. And that's when I noticed... DENSE fog. Awww, crap! I don't drive in fog. I especially don't drive in dense fog. And I triple especially don't drive in dense fog with amateur drunks on the road!! Damn!!
So... I don't know what I'm going to do. I turned on the morning news and noticed that there didn't seem to be any fog in Hollywood or Pasadena. But that doesn't change the fact that there was loads of it in Long Beach. And the 7am news view isn't a good representation of the 2am actual conditions.
And then I started thinking about the reality of the Rose Parade option. I've been told that going to the end of the route is the "secret, not too crowded" option. I thought the parade started at 7. Then I found out it's 8. End of the route means the first float would arrive at 9 or later. Hmmm... leaving a bar at 1:30 and then killing time till 9am?!? Eeee. Not sounding as fun. But still, it's an option.
As of now (2pm), my plan is to leave work around 3, take a nap, get 1/2 ready ("shower, shampoo & shine") around 7 or 8, then wait around to see how the weather looks around 9 or 10pm. If it's clear, I'll get dressed in a flash, drive to Hollywood, and hope it stays clear (if it gets foggy while I'm in the club I'll figure out somewhere safe to sleep in my car). If it's foggy at 9/10, even if it's light fog, I'll stay home tonight. Since it's still a teensy bit hazy right now, I have a feeling that it's going to be foggy again and I'll choose the safer option of staying home tonight. Poop!!
In totally unrelated items:[5:30p edit: Still at the office. Haven't done any work - just gossiping and voxing and internet. Everyone else has left. I'm about to go. The forecasted "low clouds", which is not quite fog, is definitely visible. Not looking good for going out - so I've accepted that I'm going to be sitting home tonight. It's going to totally screw with my head if the fog DOESN'T materialize and I CAN drive tonight... rapid mental readjustment. Time will tell.]
- Did anyone else see the Kennedy Center Honors (or whatever it's called)?? Twyla Tharp looked PISSED about being there! The Who looked like they enjoyed it the most. And is it me, or is it unfair that when they honor an actor, they bring out the actor's fav singers, who perform THEIR OWN hits. When a singer/band gets honored, they bring out current recording artists (aka: OUR fav singers) who perform interpretations of THE HONOREE'S songs? To be fair, they should have actors interpret roles made famous by the honored actors. I'm just sayin.
- I happened to watch ExtraTV last night and caught a little blurb of "men's talk" where one guy gave the BEST "how to win a woman" advice I've ever heard (seriously): "Make her feel beautiful, all the time. Cause she's got other women, and advertising, and everything else making her feel like she's not." I say that's totally dead-on accurate!! 90% of the appeal of C, and why I put up with his strangeness, was because he made me feel "special". The fact that I haven't felt that way, the last 2 times he's visited, is also why I am completely unconcerned with whether or not I'll see him again.
- Strange dreams again all this morning (I have them in my 9 min of sleep between "snooze" alarms). I spent all morning working on remembering the one that stood out, so I could post it. But, in typical dream fashion, it's escaped my memory anyway. Dang!
- However I do remember a moment in a dream where I almost had a Big O. I bring this up solely because the first time that happened to me was about 10 yrs ago. I was really suprised - didn't realize women could orgasm in their sleep (sure, it's logical - but it had never happened to me, not even close, so I never thought about it). I told a friend and she replied that she had orgasms in her sleep all the time. Well, now I'm pissed - cause (1) I've still never had none; (2) Not only am I having fewer when I'm awake but now I find out I'm also missing out on them in my sleep? That's just not a nice thing to do to someone who's very existence is based on sex/sexuality. I CALL SHENANIGANS!!
- I'm beginning to love Tylenol PM. I sleep incredibly well. I wake up pain free (what trick knee?). And, most importantly, although I also wake up totally groggy and not wanting to get out of bed, I'm ANXIETY FREE. Ahhhhh.
- btw: The idea of NYE being the perfect excuse to host a SUMMER party, sounds really good. I envy you!
Happy New Year everyone - and remember to buy a pair of "2009" glasses, cause (in theory) it's the last year they'll make them - so they'll be collectors items. I wish you all a 2009 filled with prosperity and happiness!!
