You should send in the complaint. what if he does it to someone else and actually damages their car or hurts them worse? Maybe he was drunk or high. and if he ran he probably has something to hide. Did the cops take his plate #?
They took the plate # over the phone but the on-site cop was pretty clear about the fact that they're not going to do a thing... not worth their time.
Send in the complaint. Why should he get away with it.
I thought maybe if they looked up his plate and he had warrants or something they might pursue it.
aww damn --- I didn't see your post about you getting hit. That sucks. I'm sorry, LeendaDLL. I'm with the other guys here though --- I'd file a complaint too --- and if there's any justice, maybe something crappy will happen to him

Sorry you're feeling so lousy. Take good care of yourself and feel better soon girrrly.
Blech that sucks...sorry.

I get that the cops have a LOT going on however this has happened to me a few times and it really SUCKS...our tax dollars at work - not!

But there was one time it did workout :) My car was hit - a hit and run right outside of my house, my car was parked on the street. I was standing outside with two neighbors and another neighbor had just pulled up in a car. He sped after the car that hit me - turned out she lived 2 blocks away!!!! Got the plate number and house number and we called the cops. The cops were STOKED when we called them and said we had the info. The car that hit mine also left part of their lights stuck in my truck bed lol.

When the cops showed up at the girls house the chick denied it and her MOTHER lied and said she had been home all day. The cops said bullshit - they followed you to this house plus you left part of your car attached to her truck the cop actually had the light parts with him and SHOWED her the light...she still denied it so the cop got really pissed and said "Fine I'm impounding your car" and had it towed away LOL.

The next day she and her mom called me to apologize and give me their insurance company info - this girl had GOOD State Farm insurance and it was current - she had no warrants - she was clean - why run.

People suck!
I love that the cop got so pissed!!

I'm torn on whether or not to report the guy... I don't need to be giving myself bad karma at already non-existent holidays.

If he'd simply been polite - gotten out of his car, ASK IF I WAS OKAY, let me have a look at my car, and APOLOGIZED, I'd have let it all go as no harm, no foul. But the fact that he took off - then did that game of acting like he was gonna pull over, then punching the gas again (how stupid did he think I was?), really pissed me off.
I would imagine that a very clear-headed letter to the city paper about what happened might change the officer's mind.
Nah... the cop was very direct in saying that if he returned paperwork with no damage listed that his boss would question why he had wasted the time. And I agree - they have much bigger issues to deal with than an accident that did no damage... a non-event really. I told him I didn't know the rules about hit & run or I wouldn't have bothered them in the first place.

And he reprimanded me for chasing the guy. I know you're not supposed to (they might be armed or turn violent). But I stopped when the guy started driving aggressively. I refuse to be left feeling like a victim when I can take back some control!!

I think our local paper went out of business... or is about to.
If you were hurt in the accident? Then that is damage, as far as I'm concerned. I thought that's what you meant with your hurt back and neck... if we're just talking about the car, then "a non-event" seems harsh but I guess the guy knew what he was talking about. I hope you feel better, anyway!
The pain was from the accident but more of an adrenaline/stress reaction than whiplash. Even then, the attitude seems to be that if I was injured I'd have to pursue a claim through insurance and legal action rather than the police.

But the pain pills & massive sleep were enough. I'm okay today.
Send in the complaint.
