I was once in Huntington Harbor when it was overrun with the white ones (3 pics above) - literally 20 deep and as far as the eye could see. I'd wait for them to come to the surface then touch their top and watch them rapidly turn around and dive back down. Really cool.
There is a certain time of year here when there are a lot of them up around the Whitsunday Islands (near the great barrier reef) and you can't swim in the water because they sting you
