Now it's over!!
I had a really nice time with my boss, her brother, and their mother (and my boss' blind cat - a gorgeous ginger & dark brown absynian - sooo pretty!). The family is not nearly as nutty as my boss implied but, thankfully, they were just nutty enough for me to feel perfectly comfy around them.
I got a quick tour of the home - which is BEA-U-TIFUL! I could easily live in any of her 2.5 bathrooms. Everything has new tile and all of her furniture is pretty and perfect and clean (despite being light colors)... the polar opposite of my home!
My boss and her mother finished cooking dinner while we all played Dominos (they had to teach me). I started out great but when we resumed after dinner, I started a failing streak that ended with me in last place. Oh well.
Dinner was complete overkill for 4 people but all of it was totally delish: a huge ham (I'm not a fan of ham and had only an itty bitty piece of the crust - too sweet!), lasagna, baked beans (made from scratch!), cheese mashed potatoes, candied yams (very yummy!), corn, rolls, jello, cranberry sauce (homemade); pickles, carrots, olives, and some kind of peppercinis; soda; milk (I was the only one not drinking milk); champagne (my request); coffee; water; pumpkin pie; dutch apple pie; ice cream; and real whipped cream. I was sent home with a ton of leftovers. (And I already ate all the potatoes!!)
I'm sure I stayed too long (I always do) but I tried to be conscious of the time, leaving right after we had dessert (a little after 8). The drive home was easy. I thought about going to a bar but decided I'd rather let Moshi have some outdoor time and then go to bed early (for the 3rd night in a row). Tomorrow's Friday so, once again, I'm thinking of going to Miss Kitty's - but will probably change my mind by nightfall.
I never did catch any Christmas spirit. But neither did I have a pity party. All's well that ends well!
