Hawaiians, are you okay?

This morning I heard that the quake was only a 4.9 - and, while probably not common for you, I couldn't understand the fuss (I live in So Cal and have been through many that size). I just read that it was actually a 6.5 or 6.6 - a MUCH different story.

How are you guys? Is there anything we can do?

well i for one am doing okay. i'm getting ready to write an entry about it. thanks for the concern! supposedly we haven't had an earthquake since 1983. luckily it didn't hit 6.6 on our island of oahu. but it scared the shit out of me.

Glad to hear you're alright! I guess the Gods felt a bunch of people needed a "wake up" - in a major way! Now I'm even more fearful we're going to have something REALLY big here (tectonic plates and all that). But have I prepared my emergency kit? Of course not!!

I hope all your friends, and everyone else, are also okay. I send good juju.

It really wasn't that bad. We just lost power for a day. Mostly it freaked a bunch of people out and everyone went to the store and bought a lot of ice.

Glad all is well. The image of a bunch of Hawaiians lining up to buy ice is funny to me. First because I picture it being here (Calif)- and totally abstract. Then cause I imagine everyone wanting to make Hawaiian Ice(es) in a crisis (LOL - it rhymes!!). Then I stop acting punch drunk and realize it's actually a wise move. But then I picture it and it gets funny all over again.

But, seriously, I'm glad you're okay and we're not hearing horror stories like those from the Northridge, Santa Cruz / SanFran, and San Dimas quakes!
