FUCK Ticketmaster!!
No more option to have your tix mailed for free - now it's all e-ticket ($2.50 to print my own ticket? NO THANKS), UPS Delivery (something like $4 to $18.50) or WillCall (still free - who knew?).
And, thanks to an $8.05 "convenience charge" (um, excuse me, isn't ordering a ticket to the show a convenience TO THE VENUE/ARTIST??) and another $4.85 "order processing charge" (for... what?... the less than 2 min I spent online going through a well-established, automated process??)... my $25 concert ticket totalled $37.90. Isn't that sweet?
WHY HASN'T SOMEONE REGULATED THIS SHIT YET? Why are they still allowed to make up all these variable fees? I might not mind some of the BS if I could actually predict what it would be - but those "convenience" and "order processing" charges are never the same for 2 events. Not 2 events at the same venue; not 2 events by the same artist. Never seems to be a predictable percentage or dollar amount. Always seems to be some random "How much extra would we like to pocket for doing almost nothing?" fee.
At least I didn't have a bogus "facility charge" too. It's sad that I actually feel thankful about that.
And at least I got my tix to SWR at the Henry Fonda Theater on Sat, Nov 10. I also have tix to SWR at The Grove of Anaheim on Wed, Nov 7 (those $25 tix totalled $36.60). Now I need to decide whether or not to pick up tix for SWR in San Diego on Thurs, Nov 8. I'm seeing Cirque du Soleil, Corteo, on Fri Nov 9. Busy week!!

Remind me to send you a recent "Proposal" from a prospective licensing agent. Talk about mystery fees and price gouging - Oh. You have no idea.
Too: Do you look at your cell phone bill?
My bill suddenly increased by $30.00 last month.
Sprint, in all of their generosity, decided to add some additional functionality without asking me. Of course they knew that I wouldn't mind paying the extra fees for the BS. LSMS: You so did not want to be on the receiving end of my follow up call. Trust me on that.
I have, quite literally, done as Verizon hoped and given up on figuring out how my $39.99/month, unlimited use, cell contract always comes out to $65.
As for tix, I think it was House of Blues Anaheim where I tried to purchase my tix AT the venue - and was still accessed some kind of extra "convenience" charges (though 1/10th what ticketmaster charged).
"oh, my... yes it IS convenient that you actually let me attend your concert after I've bought a full price ticket. Here's an extra $15 just for being so nice."
*geez* that's salty and rough.
make you wonder why you often hear of venues complaining about attendance...
I think Sprint was hoping I'd just let it go too.
I didn't. But their intial response is what really got them into hot water.
My son's cell phone, his only means of communication at school, and mine are on the same plan. Sprint has his name and address on file. When I first called and asked they said that Drew had requested the additional services.
I said, "Oh. Did you ask him the same security questions that you just asked me?"
The CSR said yes and that they do that to verify the callers ID and that they are authorized to make changes to the plan.
---REALLY???---
I can point blank guarantee you that my son has no idea what my husband's social scurity number is and that is security question #1.
Like I said -- You really didn't wanna be a CSR for Sprint on that particular day. You didn't want to be their supervisor either. ;)
You would probably hate me. Because I think the price of concerts should go *up*. And this would cause Fuckitmaster to charge even more for their "services".
Oh, I know these particular concerts were insanely low priced. Most stuff in LA goes for about $60 to $120 per ticket - substantially more for "premium" (pit) seats - like $250 and up. And that's the original prices.
I give major props to SWR for doing these concerts so cheap. I was astounded when I saw the ticket prices. And I wouldn't mind so many of the fees if I thought any portion of it was going to the bands. But I'm pretty sure it all goes to TM and the venues.
