Cause my day wasn't bad enough
Utility bill (gas/water/sewer) just showed up - $404.04
WHAT.THE.FUCK???
I apparently didn't pay last month (which seems odd). Current month is $224.61
The majority of that is the lovely City of Long Beach "Cost of Gas" surcharge. It started after gas & electricity prices spiked a few years back. Natural gas prices had been low for decades, so the City didn't have any contracts. The City bought "surplus" gas on the open market. When the prices spiked, they passed it on to us.
This month's "cost of gas" charge - for a water heater, clothes drier, stove (which I rarely use), and wall heater pilot light (heat has only been on a couple times this month) is $120.05. For ONE MONTH. For ONE PERSON.
All the more motivation for installation of an on-demand water heater. Not much I can do about the clothes drier (no room for air drying at my house - and I don't like air dried clothing anyway), stove, or pilot light (that will be turned off when temps finally STAY warm).
This, unfortunately, leads me to wonder where I'm gonna find $404 in my ass. Drop my workouts? That only adds to the issues from the prior post.
FUCK THIS DAY.
Oh, and one for Cranky: I just saw 3 little girls walk past my window with bunches of my roses in their hands.

That's an outrageous amount for a month. Do you keep receipts of paying so you can check if you did pay last month? My water bill has been messed up time and again by the company I use and earlier this year they conveniently lost a large payment. Luckily I paid by online banking so had a receipt that way, but it still took them 4 months to 'find' it.
Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow.
oh that last line---talk about kicking you while you're down....
argh for the double bill (has happened ot me a few times. I just got my PECO bill and it was only $85, how that happened, I don't know, I guess it's just the time of year where you don't need heat or A/C, plus I had some turned off for 2 weeks while I was away. I have gas and electric combined. I'm just grateful I don't have oil heat.
when this first started, a ton of businesses - especially food based businesses - ended up closing. I was living in an apt and, despite it being the dead of winter, turned off my heater. A coworker told me his home heat bill was $250 and I thought that was obscene. A few years later, here I am. I can only guess that the bill for a family, especially one that eats at home, launders with hot water (I use cold), and has a larger house, would be up in the $400/$500 range.
That's one of the reasons I am grateful for being hot. It means when other people have the heating on, we're usually happy enough to have it off and wear a jumper or snuggle in a duvet, if, and it's a big if, it's required. Of course, there are times when you still need it, but until then, it's definately a bonus to not need it. I dread to think what it would be like if I moved in with KT full time though. He's always cold - so of course, we make a great couple!
